Hello All,

I'm about to apply in CEC category in NoC 2132 (Mechanical Engineers). But if I apply in that category, Will they assess for the posibilities of getting PE certification there? Will it impact on my application?

Or Can I apply in NoC code 2232 (Mechanical Engineering Technologist) So that more opportunities even I dont need to take any certifications like PE.

Please advise on this. Also, Is there a website where we can find the number of application accepted for each Noc code for 2013?

Thanks in advance.

Hi shri_boss,

Based on your questions, it sounds like maybe you are mixing up a little the CEC program with the Federal Skilled Workers program. I suggest you read the program requirements again -

CEC information again. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/

In the CEC class, you apply using the work experience you have in Canada from the past 3 years. You select the NOC that best fits with your job description. You have not told us anything about your work experience or job duties, so we cannot advise you which NOC best represents your experience. Do you have a Letter of Employment from your employer yet?

Based on another post you made, it sounds like you have not yet worked in Canada. perhaps you are more interested in the FSW program - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp

Hi Jes,

Thanks for the response. I worked in Canada for 1.5 Yrs (Till last Dec'12) as a Mechanical Engineer (NoC 2132). Right now at India.

My question is: Can I apply for Mechanical Engineering Technologist (NoC 2232) even If I worked as a Mechanical engineer before?
If 2232 (Mech. Eng. Technologist) job has more opportunities than 2132 (Mech. engr). Will the employers hire only the occupations in which we got PR?

And the sad part is : My employer denied providing ref. letter :( Even I was trying to get official email reply about their refusal. But they are not replying in email. But I have all pay stubs, bank statements etc., even client's internal news letter showing my return states returning back after completing my tunure at Canada.

If that is the job you performed in Canada, that is what you put on the application. It has absolutely no impact on future job prospects.

Unfortunately, you will have little chance of success without a Letter of Employment from a Employer (and if relevant, Canadian Client). If your employer refuses, you should ask a manager or supervisor at the client company. (Of course they will have to change it a little bit, because you are not their employee, but they can attest to the dates you worked, hours worked per week, job title and job duties... perhaps if you have a good relationship with someone there, they can also give you a copy of the contract between them and your employer...
