Impact of GCMS requests

Hi All,
I have noticed that there are quite a few differing opinions on whether GCMS Notes requests would have any impact on one's application.
So my questions are:

1) Do you think by applying for GCMS notes, the same VOs working to approve applications have to drop what they were doing to compile the GCMS reports - hence delaying the process for all;

2) Or conversely, do you think that by applying for GCMS notes, it would result in your folder being opened ahead of the scheduled time, thus actually being an advantageous tactic?

I can’t say I can answer that one categorically as your applying for the notes under the freedom of information act, this is handled by an independent body, I would not comment on what interaction they have with CIC but it would be expected.

However, CIC do state that all correspondence is kept to a minimum and for essential purposes only, trivial enquiries will absorb capacity usually focused on processing PR’s.

You have the choice to request the electronic file (GCMS notes) or the physical file. If you request the electronic file, there will be NO impact. If you request the physical file, then it will have an impact as the physical file has to be pulled out of the queue, even if just for photocopies.

What you want to request is the electronic file, most of the time...
