:?: It always amazes me that people apply for Pr for Canada and ask questions later.

You should always ask questions before you make a move. Immigrating is serious and should not be taken for granted that all will be milk and honey when you arrive.

It is better to bring your family with you because you will get lonely and it may take awhile before you get a job and with a new baby it would be hard on all the family that you are not with them and you would still have to support them in india, so best to have them with you.,

1) to find a job in your field, they will ask if you have canadian experience and of course you don't..so you may end up working in a factory at 8$ an hour which is not much and not pleasant work.

You will have to send to immigration that you have a new baby. Don't expect to work in accounting, you have to be qualified and accepted by Canadian Standards to do that.

You probably will have to go to school to get the accounting certificate. Also if you really want to find out what kind of job you would get, is to send to get an equivalance of both your wife and you..your education diplomas and work experience including volunteering.. they will send you back exactly what kind of work both of you could do.

Your wife is more than an average student if she graduated and if she is teaching you cannot consider her as only a "housewife". To be catergorized as a "housewife" she must be just that and not working at all but the Queen of the Castle at home.

Once you are accepted and have your PR, your children will benefit what all others here do. But you will have to pay for books and the like for your children but not for the shool.

You also should look to where you want to live, find out the potiental of getting a job in one of the 10 provinces. Since you do not speak french I would opt to go to one of the english provinces. Montreal and Toronto are saturated.

You will also both have to past a english test to see how good your english is probably. You will receive that request if they see it fit to be done and you hve to wait in line like everyone else. But what does help is when you pay the whole immigration fees right away. You save a few months of waiting.

Tell me, what made you decide to immigrate? Why haven't you checked into all what you are asking for, before proceeding. You know the grass isn't always greener and Canada is not the land of milk and honey as people think it is.

reason for immigration is that we are 3 bothers both younger to me are settled in family business and i am being left out as i dont want to be a hurdle in their inheritance. so i (wife also) was thinking of immigration for better future of our 2 kids and better living standards , i know that might take few (7-10) years but we both think that we should go ahead with that and BE of OUR own . now u will ask why not in india that i told earlier for better life..... and childrens and of course good MONEY......

i hope u might have gt my point

:) Well yes that is a good reason but I don't know how you would be a hindrance in the inheritance. I am sure your parents will give to all what should come to them.

:) Well, now before you immigrate you must look at important things:

 1) Where do you want to go and live in Canada?
 2) You may get the points to qualify with your work experience and education, but you won't get a job in your field unless you have Canadian work experience and are up to par with Canadian job Standards.
 3) Depending how many you are to immigrate you will need more than 10,000cn as this is just for one person, to prove you can take care of yourself and family as the gouvenment will not help you until you are here at least 3-5yrs.
 4) It is very expensive to immigrate..there is 1,875$ just in immigration fees for one person and I believe its 500$ additional for a spouse and for each child it depends on the age.
 5) There are medical fees which are min 280$ per person
 6) Then there are the passports, visa, air fare.
 7) You have to get an appartement, furniture, unless u rent a furnished one at the begining or stay at a hotel or unless you have someone who can find you one or if you have friends that can put you up and your family until you do.
 8) You will not get a job in your field unless you would have a job offer and if you did have a job and the employer guarantees that you will have one when you land, then there is not 10,000cn plus to prove that you have in the bank because you have a job and a salary immediately when you arrive.
 9) Immigration is not easy. Also, depending what you do as work, its best to look into the other cities as montreal or toronto as they are already saturated and immigration looks more favorably to those who stay away from these 2 places as a choice of residence, of course they won't tell you this but its there.
 10) It is a good idea to get an equivalance of your education and work experience so you know if you pass and if not what area you could work in the meantime you study to get the credits to work in your field. There are only lowly jobs for immigrates if they are not up to par with Canadian Job Standard. I knew a man who was a VIP in his country..a Minister even and he was working in a factory here. I was appalled at the way Canada wants immigrants but treat them like dirt.
 You also have to be mentally prepared to leave your homeland, family, friends as you will be facing your adventure alone if you have no one to help you when you land and I don,t advise you leave your spouse and children behind to come later because it may take years and too much trouble..best you bring them with you.
 So its a minimum of approx 8,000$ for immigration fees and all the above..if you do it by yourself. If you have an immigration lawyer or consultant, they are allowed to charge up to 10,000$ fee. Then if you have to get credits, you have to study, so that is more money, and if you have no job then you have to prove with a bank statement that you have the money required for yourself and your family.
 Before Canada was the land of milk and honey...no more, even myself I am planning to leave in a couple of years or sooner.
 So you may end up not having more than you have in India and maybe even less.

:) I belong in Canada, I have said it and I lived Montreal, Quebec so I know what I am talking about. Just moved to the Laurentians about 150 km from Montreal.

:) I would take it as an encouraging one, as, you know what you are up against and if you decide to come anyway, you won't be surprised by any of what is written when it if ever happens to you and you can better prepare yourself. You see anything negative always has a positive. So now you know the negative stuff, so you now you are aware of what is going on and you can make the choice of going ahead or not. some do make it, but not very many.

:) No, you cannot apply for a PR and a student visa as a student cannot apply for a PR until his studies are finished and if he has a job offer. Its like trying to take a shower and dress at the same time. Impossible..

Hi all,
I am so happy to tell all of you that I received a letter from Canada yesterday March 21th,2009.
As I applied my application on Feb 26th, 2009 and the letter dated March, 6th. Mine is required for further assessment in Sing Off.

Did I pass the 1st stage?

And after submitting all of original applications as well as supporting documents in 120 days, I will get AOR?
Has anyone who is on the same boat helped me make clear?
Looking forwards to hearing from u

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Misma and others who think like you:

Dancing feather is telling you the truth, which is always bitter anyway. The mere fact that he is not telling you what you want to hear does not mean that the truth is different. I have 3 uncles, 3aunts and 11 cousins in Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver. They were the ones who encouraged me and were encouraging me until a few months ago. I guess and hope that you understand what I mean.
So it is up to everybody to decide for himself whether they are ready to face whatever comes their way after migrating or .....

I can only thank people like Dancing Feather who relay the actual facts rather than tell stories which people like to hear.
