I'd like to immigrate to Canada, from India. I have 12 years of experience in IT. I do understand the PR process. But this is what I'd like to know - If I get my PR approved without having a job at hand, how much time do I have to actually get a job?

If you qualify for express entry and are successful in being issued a COPR your only challenge then is to land whilst the COPR is valid. There is no mandatory requirement for a successful EE applicant having been issued a COPR and having landed in canada to get a job. Getting a job will of course likely be a challenge but having one or not is does not affect your PR landing or status
