Hi. I am planning to submit my application for student permit and i want to it process it as quickly as possible. So, i planned to take up-front medical exam from any CIC recognized. But I saw that my country of residence in the below link

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/dcl.asp

Temporary residents by country or territory
Under Canada’s immigration law, you must have a medical exam if you:

want to come to Canada for more than six months, and
have lived or travelled for six months in a country or territory listed below in the year before you come to Canada.
The above conditions apply if there is a “YES” in the third column.

If im currently in UAE does it mean CIC will not require me to get medical exam? It is also stated somewhere in CIC web page that do not take IME until told so.

Please advise...thanks!

As far as I'm concerned, as long as you are going to stay in Canada for more than six months (this include studying as a full-time student in any university in Canada), you are required to take the medical exam and the CIC will request you to do so based on your student visa application.

However, if you are applying as a transfer/exchange student who is only going to stay in Canada for only a semester or less than 6 months, then you would not need to take the medical exam.

But since you stated that you are in UAE and probably would not require an exam, I strongly suggest to just wait for a response from the CIC and don't take the medical exam until you are told to do so.

You cannot take a medical exam voluntarily. If you need an exam, CIC will give you the required forms. So, in any case, wait for them and do whatever they say.

P.s. In your case, they shouldn't send you for an exam, since it's not required (as you mentioned).
