Hi All,

Background of the Question:

I am currently staying in United States of America and immigrating to Canada in Oct 2019. I would like to drive from USA to Canada in my Car. I am a PR holder. I did my initial landing in Ottawa back in Oct 2018 and at that time I didn't provide the details about possible goods that I will be bringing into Canada. Also, on the day of landing, I didn't had any goods as well. Now that I am actually immigrating to Canada with my family.

Questions:
With the above context, can you please answer following questions.

1. Since I didn't specify any goods at the time of landing, will I be asked to pay the duty fee for goods.
2. What is duty fee?
3. What are the goods that are exempted/included in this duty fee?
4. Do I need to pay anything for the car as a part of duty fee? if so, how much should I need to pay?
5. How about gold/ornaments? are those the sector of goods where I need to pay this duty fee? if so how much?

Thanks and Regards
Satya

You should be able to import without duty under 'settler' tariff. There is a separate process for importing a car, search for it on this forum.
