Hi guys,
I want to immigrate to Canada as a truck driver. I have many years of experience, I'm 43. My last few years of experience are on self employment so I don't qualify for RNIP program....
I've been doing some research, but it's all confusing and complicated.
Perhaps someone could explain what options I have?
- I know the NOC code was recently changed to 73300 and truck driver's are now considered skilled workers, right? What does that mean? Does it mean that I can apply to any PNP or federal program for skilled workers?
- What are current programs for truck drivers, federal and provincial? What are the best and quickest in processing?
- Is it allowed to apply for Express Entry, some other federal program and PNP at the same time?
- I spoke to one truck driver who got his PR thru MB PNP. He says he got a job offer in MB (not LMIA, but just ordinary job offer), than applied for MB PNP, got the nominee within a month or two, than applied for Express Entry and he did it all while still in his country and than he went to Canada. Does that sound right?
- So the job offer for PNP program doesn't have to be LMIA?
- Can I apply for MB PNP of I don't have any family connections there?
- I also heard that I can't apply for PR programs while I work on LMIA TWP, is that correct?

I will really appreciate if someone could put some light on it and help me understand how it works and what options I have.

There is a good summary here: https://www.elaarimmigration.ca/blog/pnp-for-truck-drivers-in-canada/

No, there is no rule that states you cannot apply for PR programs while working on an LMIA TWP. In fact some programs require this.

Assume you need to still focus on the truck driver streams. Do not assume the TEER changes open everything up. They won't.
