I have not yet got my visa, so take this with a grain of salt.

The way I understand it is that your initial visa is valid for a year from the date of your medical exam. (Your passport needs to have validity beyond 12 months though.) Within this time you need to land in Canada. Once you apply and get your PR card, that card is valid for 5 years from the date of issue.

Next, I am not sure about your second question. Is your current VO the CPC-O? If yes, I don't think this would be a problem. If no, then I am not sure.

I think that once you get the passport request, you can request the VO to stamp your spouses passport from the Canadian Consulate in the country where she is living. Some countries allow you to send your passport by mail (India prohibits this) In that case get your spouse to send her passport for stamping to your original VO. I think that way it would be quicker.

1) Once you received Immigrant visa, validity will be exact 1 year of your medical done date or your passport expiry date (whatever comes first). Once you Land, immigrant visa is cancelled on your passport and you will be sent PR Card valid for 5 years. You no require visa to enter canada, but PR card
2) It depends, If you are asked for passport submission, where will you be instructed to do so ?
3) this is possible, but when you receive passport request, you need to explain your visa office regarding this situation and they will instruct you to do so.

Good Luck...

Once visa is issued, it's valid for 1 year from the date of your medical examination. I'm not too clear with your 2nd question but as for the 3rd question, it'll be advisable for your spouse to send his/her passport to the original VO handling your application.

1- immigrant visa once issued ; its valid for how many months? - One year from medicals or validity of passports , if less than medical expiry

2- if one is already in Canada after clearing the medical on visit visa .can he/she still can get immigrant visa there while in Canada ? - I am not sure , but believe he will have to exit from Canada to get it done from his VO

3- if medical is cleared but spouse goes out to country of work can he/she give his passport to stamped for immigr-visa stamped at country of work? - This can be allowed , if VO is requested to do so
