IMM5708 extending stay with Spousal PR in progress

Hi all,

I'm from the UK and currently living in Ottawa with my Canadian husband. We sent our Inland Spousal PR application with an OWP app and it was received on the 12th August. We're currently waiting for AOR.

As I'm from the UK, I don't need a visitor visa and have been living here in March. My 6 months visitor time ends on the 17th September so, this coming week I'm going to apply to extend my status so we're covered if our app gets returned.

On IMM5708 it mentions reason for visiting Canada, do I go for 'visiting spouse' or do I mention we have a PR application in progress?

As I'm unable to work, for the section of the application which mentions funds, my husband is going to write a letter saying that he is going to support me and will include a letter from his employer stating his weekly hours and rate of pay. Will this be sufficient?

Finally, and this one is for others who had sent theirs in online, I notice that you can only upload one document per 'section'. Does anyone know how you add more items to one document? For example, the letter from my hubby's employer is a PDF but we would need to attach it to the letter he's writing for me in Open Office. If anyone is able to guide us on how to do that I'd be grateful. What I've found around the web doesn't seem to work! We can't be the only ones to have been in this situation so I figured I'd reach out here!

Many Thanks

1. Visiting spouse was my reason for my extension, but I also wrote a letter as a supplemental document explaining that we had applied for PR and intended the extension to cover me for the interim waiting time (in the event my application was returned or my OWP was rejected), and that if I had to return to my home country it would be a hardship for us as newlyweds but that I did have somewhere to live (ties to home, so I wouldnt be tempted to overstay)

2. Should be. We included some pay stubs as an extra layer of proof, but idk if that was fully necessary.

3. I made each document a PDF and then used Adobe Acrobat to combine them. I had to do that because I had many extra pages of work history (because of course they couldn't make the form expandable) so I just did it for each category of submittable document.

Thanks @Jnicole45 !

I'm in the same boat regarding employment history! Thank you so much for you tip about making each doc a PDF and combining, that worked perfectly :)

Totally the most annoying thing about all of these forms has been having to fill out the, like, 2 lines per page of work history over and over instead of just being able to attach an extra page or something with the extra history. I think for my extension I had 6 extra pages of work history (I did a lot of seasonal work and also spent time in school, so I also had to cover those periods where I was unemployed or just in school). Super inconvenient for anyone who hasn't held the same job for 10+ years
