IMM5490E - Q1.

Hi,

Got a question about IMM 5490. The first question asks 'if you have any contact with your sponsor?' However, my husband is my first cousin and obviously we used to have some general contacts. So now, if i'm going to say 'Yes' then it asks me when did I contact first? and I don't know what to say here.

Any suggestions??? ???

The truth. Tell exactly when you met, if you were a baby, you can say something like "Our families have known each other since birth. We played together" and so on.

got it .. but it is asking when did we first contact? however, i did state in my application that we are first cousin and we personally met last year when I came to his country for my brother's marriage and gave that date as our first meeting, but this question is asking for a first contact... so as a first cousin we had a general contact but i just can't come up with the a 'Date'. I hope you got my point :s

Is it possible to just put a year in the field? Or will it only let you write a specific date?

Are you referring to question 1 in IMM5490? That is asking if you had any other form of contact before first meeting in person, such as phone, online or email. If you didn't have such contact you can check "no".

I can't recall all the questions, but you obviously want your "meeting" dates to match with your sponsor, and then you can explain in one of the "further information" sections that you had contact before as family ( Q. 6. Give any additional details describing the circumstances of first meeting your sponsor)

well if i did explain in Q6 that we had general contact before as we are first cousin but again that link to Q1. So, if i say 'no' for that question won't they raise a question that if we are first cousin then how come there was no contact before getting married?
so far i have been saying that we basically me the first time in 2015 when my spouse came to my country with her family for her brother's marriage and they stayed at my house...
