IMM5257B_1: Question 6

Hello people,

Quick question. Form IMM5257B_1 has question number 6 that says:

Checkthe box to indicate whether you have held any government positions in the past such as:

Civil servant
Judge
Police officer
Mayor
Member of parliament, or
Hospital administrator.

Now what is confusing me is that my father was employed by the central government but he does not fall in this list. He was a botanical scientist and he worked for a government organisation that developed plant drugs. So it was not a private company and it was a government of India sub-body. Will that qualify as yes to this question? Should I say yes and give the details of his job under the central government?

It's a question to YOU if you're under the government service and not ur father.. hope that makes sense to u.cheers!

I read it the same way, Dee, then it struck me, perhaps the whole family is applying for a TRV. If that is the case the father's occupation would have to be included. I would say yes, and provide a clear explanation. When they ask this question they are looking for situations where people were in a position of power.

Thanks Peppin.. thought the same way too.. as of now.. am waiting also for my TRV.any idea how long it takes to trace it or how they will get back to you .. applied in Sydney. cheers!

Hmmmmm....which Sydney, LOL? Check the processing times here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/visitors.asp (applied outside Canada)
Hope they will be even faster than posted. I don't think you can trace a TRV and I don't know how the individual embassies deal with returns whether by mail or pick up at location you submitted the docs. Good Luck!
