I came from India to Canada in September 2018 on a 4 year study permit, when filling IMM5562, do I need to include that travel history as well?
I went back to India to visit family in November 2024 and came back in December 2024 (I am on a work permit now), do I include this travel?
If I do, what should I include in From - To ? and Length?

Thanks!

Yes, you should include both your initial travel to Canada in September 2018 and your more recent trip to India in November–December 2024 when filling out IMM 5562 (Supplementary Information – Your Travels). This form requires you to list all travel outside your country of residence in the past 10 years or since the age of 18, whichever is more recent. Even if you moved to Canada as a student and now reside there, your initial arrival and any subsequent international travel must be recorded
For your initial arrival in Canada in September 2018, you would include:
  • From – To: India to Canada
  • Length: Write something like “Permanent relocation for studies” or “Ongoing stay (student permit)”
  • You can also specify the month and year: “Sep 2018 – Present” if it’s your first arrival and you’ve remained in Canada since
For your trip to India in November–December 2024, you should include:
From – To: Canada to India
  • Length: Indicate the duration of your trip, for example, “1 month” or “Nov 2024 – Dec 2024”
Be concise but clear. Each entry is meant to reflect travel, not permanent moves or returns unless they involve crossing international borders. If you lived in Canada continuously after 2018 but left temporarily, that counts as travel and must be included.
