IMM 5406 additional family information Help Needed

Hi, everyone!

I applied for FSW in August. Passed medical exams. I received an email from CIC. I was requested to submit my birth certificate and IMM 5406 to them within one week.

I do not know how to fill the "Place of birth" field. Should I just put the country or city and the country? Because I could not find anywhere an exact instruction.

To be safe write "city, country".

The problem is that my mother was born in one country but do not know the city because her parents passed away.

Do you think I should just state the country name then?

Yes. If you don't know, so you don't have other options. I am sure they care more about the country of birth. In fact, in other family information forms for different visas, they ask only about the country of birth.

I agree. I do not think it is the big issue to know the city of birth, that was 40-50 years ago. Thank you for help. I received an email from them after 25 days since I have applied.

The letter says "We have begun processing your application for permanent residence, and in order to make a decision we require the following information/documents:"

Do you think it is a good sign or just neutral?

It is a good sign in the sense that "at least you know your application is moving and not stuck somewhere". Good luck!
