Hi,

I'm a Canadian husband applying to sponsor my wife.
We both are permanent residents in an another country, along with our 3 children (Canadians).

My question relates to the field for National Identity Document, found in form IMM 008 for every person listed (applicant, sponsor/spouse, dependent children).

The country we are staying in issues a government ID - which has a unique number, photo, age, expiry date, nationality, even passport number.

My questions is: can I use the aforementioned ID for the National Identity Document field?

Note, I'm the only family member with a SIN card.
But every member of our family has the aforementioned government ID card - of which country we're all permanent residents.
(again, the card is not issued by the government/country of any of our family members nationality/citizenship)

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

Best,

H

You wish to use the ID of a country of which none of you are citizens? Why?

What national ID does your wife have from own country of citizenship? Makes more sense to use that.

You shouldn't need any such national ID for your Canadian citizen children.

(iignore bolding here, tech prob)
