Hello, I am sponsoring my common-law partner. He came to Canada in 2018 with a visitor visa (ETA - no stamps at arrival but considering the usual visitor visa being valid for 6 months) but overstayed his visa and remained in the country without status. I am unsure how to proceed.
If I select "Other" for his status and enter "from" the date he arrived in Canada, what date should I enter in "to" (as it has to be greater than today's date?
Also, under "If immigration status is other..." I wrote "out of status" only. I read somewhere that we should add "requires restoration" but the space provided (online application) is not enough.
Thank you for the assistance!
Edit: I just reviewed the guide and it says:
For out-of-status applicants
Thanks!

For out-of-status applicants
- for “Status,” select “Other”
- for “Other,” type in “Out of status, requires restoration”
- leave the “From” and “To” boxes blank
Thanks!
