I'm Very Conflicted. Do I Pay My Tuition Deposit Or Not? (Extending Study Permit)

So my study permit expires shortly before my current semester ends. I'm taking the final courses of my program this semester. If I fail my courses, I have to repeat them next semester. But if not, then I will have finished the program.

I have sent an application to extend my study permit. My college has also given me the enrollment letter and I attached this to the application. However in that enrollment letter, there is a section which indicates whether I have paid the international student deposit for registering for courses next semester. The letter explicitly stated that I did not pay the deposit. Not sure if that's an issue because I sent this study permit extension application a while ago and the deadline for the deposit is much later. Also in my study permit extension application, they asked me for the cost of tuition and I just put down the average cost of a semester (operating under the assumption that I have to state it because I have not yet passed my current courses)

Anyways I'm worried as to how they will interpret that. The deadline for the deposit is coming up, and I'm very unsure if I have to pay it. The deposit is non-refundable and its a pretty big amount of money. I need to pay the deposit in order to register for courses in the next semester. However if I pass all courses, then I won't need to repeat them. Which means the deposit will be money flushed down the drain. It just doesn't seem smart to waste all that money.

So what do I do? I'm scared they will reject the study permit extension because I did not pay this deposit. I know in most cases of study permit extensions, the student still has at least one more semester ahead and so will have paid the deposit.

Help please?
