Better make sure you have good health insurance and try to get this condition covered, if by paying extra, etc.

Since you're not covered by Canadian provincial insurance, so it will be a big expense in Canada related to pregnancy.

Better to have it all covered in your home country.....anyway you only been issued a 2-month stay by CBSA.

If I were you, the FIRST thing I would do, is determine if applying inland TRULY is the best way to go. You will be unable to obtain OHIP before you at least receive AIP (Inland only) and that states will take at least 6 months. It is most definitely longer than that, since my application was received by them on Dec 7 and I still haven't received AIP. If you TRULY want to continue with an Inland application it will be imperative that you find an insurance that will cover your pregnancy in Canada, although I think that might prove to be the most difficult part.

If hubby is located close to a border crossing in Ontario, you could apply outland and STILL keep your insurance in the US, and a doctor there as well, but continue to live with hubby here in Canada. Once you have filed your PR paperwork, they will usually give you a longer Visitor Record. I know this because they also only gave me a short one to start then once I filed my paperwork, they gave me a year and told me if I need it extended to just come on back by and they will issue a new one. We are very close to a border crossing (Ambassador Bridge) so doing that is quite easy for us.

We chose to do inland because that was the only way I would get an open work permit quickly to get a job in Canada (quick is a relative term with Canadian red tape apparently). Again, still waiting for the AIP which will avail me of OHIP and also an OWP (open work permit) until my PR comes through completely.

I know this all feels like a big step, and trust me it is, but if you take the time to gather all the proper documents and fill out the paperwork, asking questions here on the forums as you go along, you'll get it done with relative ease. It will be up to you and hubby to weigh the pros and cons of inland/outland sponsorship though.

Good luck! :D

No private health care plan will cover a pregnancy if one is already pregnant at time of application.

In Ontario it's incredibly hard to get provincial health care coverage, even with first stage approval with an inland sponsorship. Also as inland is currently taking around 9+ months for stage 1 approval, there is a very slim chance you would have AIP and stage 1 approval by the time you give birth. So you would need to pay for all pregnancy related medical costs out of pocket.

One option is to look into you and your spouse moving to Alberta. I have heard several stories on this site, of Canadian citizens there who were successful in getting provincial health coverage for their spouses, even though they were just there on visitor visa.

Else you could look at returning to your home country to have the baby, if that would be cheaper. If you stay in Ontario expect to pay around $5,000 for regular medical check-ups during pregnancy and the hospital birth, and up to $10,000 or more if any complications. One cheaper option you could look at is using the services of a midwife.
