My dad loves Canada so much. He always misses it and pays my international tuition just so at least I have a chance to make this country my home.

He won't be able to enter as a skilled worker because he's a lawyer (different law system in North America) and he's old (50+).

I can't sponsor him in the next few years, because I'm not a Permanent Reisdent. I'll start studying in September and the road to Permanent Resident is a long one.

Could he buy a house there, live there for 6 months, then go to USA for one day to avoid overstay, then come back?

Is there any other possibilty for him to stay here?

Thanks

Based on what you've written, his only option is to come to Canada temporarily as a tourist. However he should not expect that he will be able to stay indefinitely - sooner or later he will have to return home. As a visitor he will also not qualify for any health care coverage and should be prepared to either pay for this care on his own or purchase private insurance.

If he leave for the US for one day and then attempts to return - there is never a guarantee he will be allowed back into Canada. Whether he is allowed in and for how long is up to the immigration officer he speaks to at the border. If the agent believe your father is trying to live in Canada (rather than just visiting) - he could be refused entry to Canada.

Buying a house in Canada won't change anything.

If he wants to stay in Canada long term and he doesn't qualify for a work permit, then his only other option is to apply to immigrate on his own (if he qualifies) - which obviously isn't a quick process.
