Illegal status during part of studying years in France

Hello,

I may have one last question : for the personal history part (post ITA), during my five years studying in France, for some reasons I spent the last two years without renewing my study permit, which means I had during those two years an illegal status. So in the personal history, they ask for the "status in country", and I don't know if there's an option for illegal status.

I don't want to hide this fact, as I don't want to have a 5 years ban because of misrepresentation.

In the case of the existence of an "illegal status" option, do you think that this will cause trouble ? Knowing that I was studying at the same school during those two years, and when I was graduated, I went back to my country of origin by my own, and since had two occasions to travel to France as a tourist with Shengen visa approved twice.

Do you think that I will be disqualified for the points earned for education as I had an illegal status during those last two years of studying ?

Thanks.

Any idea guys ? I'm about to submit my EE profile, and I'm very concerned about this.

Firstly, will you be able to get a police certificate from France for your entire stay there, including the time you spent with illegal status?

If yes, then just put "resident" or "temporary resident" under status.

Thank you for your response.

I already ordered and received my police certificate from France last March (I can order a new one if necessary, it's a quick procedure, they send it by email).

Mine was blank, no incrimination of any kind. But there is no specification of period of time, and no field to specify it when you order the police certificate.

Knowing that when I wanted to leave France after finishing school, in the airport, the customs agents asked me to follow them to their desk to stamp my passeport with a cross bar (meaning that I can't return to France for few months I guess, and also had been registred in their system). I just had to have my passport renewed and didn't encounter any problem to have a visa from the french ambassy two years later, and another one a year later.

I think you should be fine in that case, as long as the police certificate was obtained after your last visit in France.

Don't overthink it. Visa overstays are not as bad as deportations, and you don't need to declare them.

Should I in this case choose "Study Permit" for the 3 first years, and "Resident" or "Temporary Resident" for the 2 last ones ? I'm just guessing, as I don't know yet which are the options available for "Status in the country" (just about to submit the profile).

From what I remember, each of your personal history events (education, employment) take up one line.

So you wouldn't need to mention each year separately. And I think that status is a text field, not a drop-down with pre-set options. I believe temporary resident would make the most sense.

Oh and make sure you take screenshots of all the tables you fill out, for personal history, address history and travel history.

This is just in case you get an additional document request for a Schedule A form. It will help you stay consistent, especially with specific dates and stuff. They requested it from me, and I copied the same information. Got my PPR email two weeks ago.

You entered on legal status to France so answer as per the options. You must however mention your overstay in your LOE as it may look like misrepresentation. Never hide the truth and always be honest. Because they will find out during background.

Do you think that this will discourage CIC to approve PR ? As far as I know, this didn't cause any concern to France (the main concerned with this), as they allowed me to enter to France again and didn't mention any offence of crime in the police certificate.

I especially worry about the long overstay : one month may seem more or less OK, but 2 years ?
