I'm planning on applying for PR under SKW while in the US. The Central Intake Unit will send my application to Haiti. Here is my concern.
If I get called for an interview, will they require me to travel to Haiti for that, or will they allow a Visa office in the US to conduct the interview?
I've seen instances on this forum where they take 5 months to make a decision after an interview, and the keep your passport that whole time until you get it back in the mail. I wouldn't want to stay in Haiti 5 months with no Job, and a family to support in addition to the security situation there. Haiti is on the list of protected countries by Canada.
The problem is I would need a transit US visa to go to another Caribbean island where my wife is from because there are no direct flights from Haiti to that destination. It would be unlikely to get any type of visa from the US because of overstay.
Is there any explanation I can make based on the above if I get an interview request for Haiti?
Thanks
