If WP is expiring in 2 weeks, possible to extend even w/out LMO???

Hi guys,

Can anybody confirm this? I think i read somewhere in this forum that if ones WP is expiring in 2 weeks, you can actually apply to have it extended even without an actual LMO. (But must assure that an LMO is applied for and is in process) Concurrent processing? Please explain... thank you

Yes. I've full detailed knowledge about this process.
Plan ahead. Give advertisements etc- that are required for LMO. Even if employer refuses advertisements, u can still file an LMO without advertisement, but chances of approval will be bleak. But still u can get 4 months of auto implied status, if u apply for wp by paper application.
So let us go backwards, suppose your WP expires on 20 May, you can file for extension with LMO pending not before 2 weeks, say 7th May [FILE PAPER APPLICATION ONLY]. So, file your LMO in May 1st week. And 2 weeks before you file LMO, give advts in sites and job bank etc-.

advantage:
beginning 7th may, you get 135 days (current processing time for paper applications) of implied status to continue working. If you get +ve LMO then it'll be extended. If you get negative LMO, then file new LMOs after addressing the hrsdc officer's concerns. you have 4 months for that activity. once u get LMO approved, file for new WP.

Concurrent processing is no more valid. You need a positive LMO with your application. I have posted my reply to your question on the other thread you created.

I suggest you read the following Operational Bulletin, http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/resources/manuals/bulletins/2010/ob152A.asp

"For inland processing, the concurrent processing option will only be allowed for foreign nationals whose work permits will be expiring within two weeks. They must provide proof of a valid job offer, as well as proof that the employer has submitted a request to Service Canada for a new LMO. Applications will be initialized and the processing fee will be processed. Applications will be held for two months (TBC for CAQ) from the date of receipt, after which a determination to either refuse or approve the work permit will be made."
