Hi everyone,

if my husband doesn´t get his PPR by the time I will move back to Canada, he is planning to stay with me in Canada as a visitor. Now my question: Since we applied outland, is it enough for us to inform the VO that we are in Canada and to let them know the new address in Canada, so that they send COPR there? Or does he need an adress in his home country as well?

It will very much depend on whether he is allowed to enter Canada as a visitor what address is given.

Remember, he is 'visiting' if allowed to do so and needs to show/prove that if he is not approved that he will return 'home' should the application be refused.

As a result he needs to provide a 'home' address in his own country to which he would return as well as a temporary address if allowed into Canada as a visitor.

The system allows for both a home address and mailing address. Probably best to cover all possible bases so that when the time comes to contact there is every possible way to do so - the more addresses possible the better, eh?

Are you applying inland or outland?

If you're applying outland, this is my advice:
It is not required for your hubby to have and address in his home country, but remember: Your husband will be entering Canada as a VISITOR. It is kind of an unspoken regulation that Visitors have an address of some sort to prove ties to their home country. Not being affiliated with an address in his home country could cause him to be denied entry OR an extension. He could use his parent's address, a friends, or some other relatives, but I highly suggest that he has one. You should consider what could happen if he would happen to be denied access/extension. Where will he go from there, and how will he make a living?

In July, I will be moving out of my apartment and 'moving' to Canada to stay with my husband while we go through the PR process. Although I will not longer have a residence in the USA, I will still be using my parents address when need be and will have the option to move in with them in the event that I am denied access/extension.

Please note that I am not using my parent's address in my application. You are allowed to use a Canadian address in the application if you are applying outland.

I'm just curious,I thought if you apply outland you have to wait for your PR outland, bec.they will pass all the documents to your visa office...

You can visit Canada while your PR is being processed. I'm just going to be 'visiting' until my PR is processed, even if that means applying for an extension.
