If I started to work in an employer with an open work permit what is about to expire, do I need an LMIA to continue?

Hello Expert people.

I started to work for an employer with an Open work permit at 16th of November (case type: 20, - usual worker. Tied to spouse`s closed LMIA-exempt wp, case type: 52), but it is about to expire (13th of April). My employer hired me for a year, I have a job offer from them already, and in February we will apply for the PR under the BC PNP techpilot program with the sponsorship of the company.

My question would be: I started to poke the company for my new work permit, and even though we still have 4 months until the expiration date, they seems to be a bit slow, and I checked, they are eligible to apply for an LMIA under the High wage stream, which takes 35 business days to process. And now I am pretty stressed that we will slip through the expiration date.

So I would have two questions:
1. If I already started to work with them, have a valid job offer, they help us to apply for the BC PNP program, do I still need an LMIA to get a new work permit? (it won`t be an extension, it will be a new one).
2. I heard if I apply for the PR and I have a positive decision, I would fall under implied status until I get the PR, so maybe it would be easier to apply for it instead of the new work permit and wait for it in an implied status?

Sorry I haven`t fund any information for this in the internet.
Every oppinion I welcome. Thanks.
