Hi,

I am a bit confused about the section where CIC has given IELTS bands as English as first official language. Below the table is another table with heading "Second Offical Language". Does that mean if english is not my first language, i should get these scores in order to be qualified for immigration?

IELTS has two options for the reading and writing tests: “General Training” and “Academic.” You must take the “General Training” option.

First official language (Maximum 24 points)

Your first official language means the language you will primarily use in Canada (French or English) - Presumably you'd choose English as your first official language, you'd need to submit your IELTS for language points. On the other hand, if you speak both English and French, the language you are not as fluent with will be considered your second official language and in this example, that would be French and you'd need to submit your French language test to show your ability.
