IELTS WRITING section-Task 1- Letter writing or Chart comparison?

Plz, can anyone tell me-

My IELTS booklet (which i received from British council when I registered for the test), shows only 'explanation and comparison of charts/graphs/diagrams' as the model question for Task 1 in the WRITING SECTION.

but some free websites talk about 'letter-writing: formal/semi/informal' as the model question for Task 1 in writing section. is this outdated Ielts model qn?

Or do they still ask 'letter writing' as task 1 (or task 2)?

Note: My test date is Aug 2 2014

I just got the answer to the question.
Both letter writing and Chart comparison are there in IELTS. But u will face only one type among the two, depending on whether u chose 'academic' or 'GT' for registration.

Letter writing is for "general training-writing"
Chart comparison is for "academic-writing".

"general training-writing" is required for PR.
"academic-writing" is required for student visa.
