from IELTS perspective - 2 years...
from CHC perspective - 1 year...

Yup....When you apply to Nova Scotia, IELTS should not be more than 1 year old.....

HI Dear all,

I did send my Application to the CIC office Sydney for initial assessment on 2nd December 2009 with copy of my IELTS result at that time my IELTS had not complete one year old .I received confirmation on 19th February 2010 from CIC that my application is accepted and for the further processing I Should contact with the Visa Office. Now please guide me do I need to revise my IELTS test again for the submission of further documents to the visa office because it's older than one year but at that time when I did submit my application to CIC it was not older than one year some days were left. Plz help me on this matter.

I am quoting from Delhi/Singapore Visa office specific requirements check list. See page 5 on the following Link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37057.pdf

"Test results from an approved language-testing organization: We strongly recommend that you submit test results if you are claiming proficiency in a language that is not your native language. You must provide the original. Photocopies are unacceptable. Language test results must not be older than one year upon submission."

Based on this my inference is that you need to submit IELTS results to CHC which are not older than one year from date of submission of docs to CHC.

But there are many different opinion. PMM, most senior members has said multiple times that it is one year from date of submission to CIO. So you will hear different opinons. Check the thread

I think the question to ask on the forum would be has any body submitted IELTS results older than one year to CHC which were not one year old when applied to CIO and successfully completed the process
