S = 7 CLB - 9
W = 6.5 CLB - 8

It's not bad.

But IMHO, if you can aim for CLB 9 that will be great.

L - 8
R - 7
W - 7
S - 7

Hello,

My husband is the primary applicant for the express entry and to claim the spouse points I have written IELTS exam, the result is:

L=7.50,
R=5.50,
W=5.50,
S=6.50,
OverAll=6.50

Is this score good enough for the spouse?

As per the cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

Spouse’s or common-law partner’s official languages proficiency - first official language Maximum 20 points
Reading, writing, speaking and listening– total points for each ability

For each ability 5
CLB 4 or less 0
CLB 5 or 6 1
CLB 7 or 8 3
CLB 9 or more 5

Tried calculating the CLB based on my result in ielts-exam.net/IELTS-for-canada.htm but the calculator is not calculating if the score is less than 6.0 in each section. Does the spouse also need to get 6.0 in each section and based on my result how many points will I get.

Please let me know. Thank you!!

Dear all,

Got my results today:-

Attempt 2nd:- L/R/W/S = 8/7/6/7.5 (gave on 7th feb 2015).

Attempt 1st:- L/R/W/S = 7/7/7/6.5 (gave on 6th dec 2014).

I am not understanding where I went wrong in writing. I thought I would get 7 in writing but unfortunately I didn't.

I require your suggestion on re-evaluation of score. What shall i do? I am a bit disappointed.Do i pay for re-cheking?

Is there any chance that going for re-evaluation lower your score?

Please provide your valuable suggestion

Thanking you,
Regards

Hi all,

I just check my IELTS (GT) for Express Entry and the result is:

Overall Band 8.0
Listening 8.5
Reading 8.5
Writing 6.5
Speaking 7.5

I am satisfied with the results except for writing..... the thing is if I got 0.5 more for writing, I could get additional 23 to 32 points for my EE profile, based on the assumption each band is above CLB 9.

Do you all think I should retake the exam?? the risk is getting lower scores in the second one... lol
One more question, IF I retake the exam, does the second result override the first result? So if I get lower scores in the second exam, it is necessary to update my profile to the lower scores?

Your help is appreciated!Thanks!

I heard that it is $150 to request for remarking and takes 6-8 weeks. If your mark changes you get the refund...
I am also disappointed with my writing score..... but I am thinking just retaking exams... :(
