IELTS test + CIC Application Number

Hello, I am trying to start gathering all the needed elements to create my Express Entry profile and I find myself lost. The EE profile on CIC asks me to provide the test results of IELTS to complete the profile and eventually submit an application, and the IELTS test site is asking me to provide an application number so they can send a copy of the results to CIC:

You will receive one copy of your Test Report Form*. (*Those applying to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will receive two. You will need to provide the test centre with proof of application to CIC.)

So What do I need to do first? I can't submit my profile because I have not taken the IELTS test, but I also can't take the IELTS test because I don't have an application number ( I can, but the IELTS people will not send the test results to CIC without an application number).

Can someone please point me on the right direction?

You sit the IELTS general module first. And then once you have your score sheet, there will be a code at the end, you will be asked to enter it when creating your online profile.
Later when you are selected from the EE pool and get an invitation to apply for permanent residency, you will have sections to upload your supporting documents online. Under the education section, you will include a scan of your IELTS.
