IELTS Score - Wife Study - Applying Open work permit

My wife is a full time master student in Canada. I applied for open work permit and the visa center asked me to do the IELTS exam. What will be the minimum IELTS score that I need to get in each section for my eligibility ?

They made an error, you don't require IELTs for an SOWP.

If IELTS is not required, I am wondering why they asked.I gave the medical test results also. anyway If I get lower than 6 for IELTS , will they reject my visa?

Why should they ask me an IELTS results ?
if I fail to get 6.0 for each. will it be a problem for me get spouse work permit?
