Few days back people wanted to know whether after retaking an IELTS test, if in case the score is lower than the previous one, would they still be able to use the old test results.

There were mixed responses.....Few saying the test is valid if it is not more than two years old irrespective of whether it is the latest one or not and some saying the latest one would be valid!

The letter of invitation that I received recently states the following:

Some examples of changes which could result in a lower points score include:
• You no longer have a valid job offer
• You no longer have a provincial nomination
• Your language test scores have expired or upon re-taking them, the scores are lower.

So I guess we need to be sure we can increase our scores if we plan to take the test again.

But that's after ITA, right? So you can use any test result before ita but after, if you take them again and get a lower score (not sure why you would after ITA) you may get fewer points.

Because of being unable to submit the application (eAPR) before the IELTS expires.

Cheers ;)

The examples are give under the following section:

Changes to your personal situation

If your situation (or that of your spouse or partner) changes, you should try to re-calculate your points score before you decide to apply for permanent residence. To find out how to re-calculate your score, see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

If your new score is lower than the minimum points score in the round of invitation from which you were invited to apply, you should consider declining this invitation to apply. You should also consider declining this invitation to apply if you no longer meet the minimum criteria for Express Entry.

This refers to when you are re-taking the test after the previous ones have expired.

As long as the previous test result is still valid, you can use it. That is the only condition. It has been discussed multiple times on this forum and countless forum members have taken the language tests multiple times without any issues. Don't be confused by keyboard jockeys who are shooting from the hip without knowing what they're talking about.

It can't be any other way, because CIC is not able to verify your information if you do not provide them with the TRF number. They can't just search the database and find all your test results.

"You will not be able to carry out general searches of the data we hold; you will only be able to search on complete TRF numbers. "
https://ielts.ucles.org.uk/ielts-trf/

So if you re-take the test and the results are worse, CIC wouldn't have any way of knowing about it unless you gave them the TRF number.

That's why a rule like "you have to use the most recent test result" is impractical, and therefore it doesn't exist.
Correct and very well put +1

Cheers :)

Hello
I have got my results and its overall 8.5.
I have met my requirement.
However, I had already booked another exam before getting result of the previous one.
Now,I am willing to give the exam on 9th as I did not get any refund.
My score was L-8,R-8.5,W-8.5,S-8.
I want to improve my score in listening.
So,if by any chance,I get a lower score.
Can I use my old TRF???
