Hello,
I understand that IELTS is widely acceptable as well as TOEFL in many Canadian universities at the present. I am from the non-English speaking country but have been overseas for few years. After testing IELTS in Academic, I got 6 in overall (Listening 6, Reading 5.5, Writing 6 & Speaking 7), but many faculties in St.John's, Newfoundland need applicants should possess IELTS score 6.5 at least and some faculties especially in Science necessarily needs score 6.5 in writing and reading parts respectively or TOEFL 550, but I do not meet their IELTS qualification. Here are my questions;
1) Do you think I should retry working on IELTS or just go and have TOEFL test instead (I tested IELTS few times but scores in each part is more or less only .5 drop point)?
2) In case if I can get the required scores in 6.5 overall but may drop only .5 in those parts, do you think a university normally admit applicants by letting them studying?
3) University degree is much more acceptable than Diploma nowadays (would be good to find jobs in one country for Diploma, but would be harder if finding jobs in other countries in the future), do you think Diploma would be hard to find a job if one day I will probably move to work in another countries such as USA, UK or Australia?
4) With my scores, I will probably be admitted with IELTS score 6. Do you think it's a good idea that I should go to college then transfer credits to university later?
5) How do I know which universities allow applicants who transfer credits from colleges with them? Do I have to contact college first or university first?
Thank you for your help.
