IELTS - Ask yourself for Survival

Dear All,

I am new to this forum and regularly visiting this site for updates.

Every week there are some topics going for IELTS and people are struggling to reach the points required (67 points) for immigration.

I want to convey an simple message for those who are just scoring 6 to 10 points in IELTS and asking for guidance for improvement. There are some guys who are able to come out of this by hard work and improvement.

The guys who are securing just 6 to 10 points and even has reach the points required need to ask themselves whether in real they will be able to survive in the market. Though there might be some influence or relatives support but still need to think of their own.

Even the Visa Officer,while making assessment, are sure that if the person is not able to communicate properly in english, they will not be survive easily even though they have the support of relatives or other factors.

Hope I am not hurting anybody, but this is the fact that guys need to really improve his english skill in order to survive in the market.

I've taken up IELTS General test on June 26th and scored 6.5 overall band. A planned preparation will make these tests very easy.

The following sites are of very much useful. Try to utilize them maximum:

You tube has lots of Podcasts on CNN/Al jazeera news bullettins which will help both in listening and reading.

There is a book Target band 7 by Simon Beever details of which you can find in ielts-blog site. It is very much useful. Also, Cambridge university's Insight in to IELTS is also very helpful. It is better to buy these from India where it is much cheaper.

Speaking and Listening needs lots of practice. I had couple of practice sessions with my friend to get confidence. Listen to English news regularly preferably CNN/Al Jazeera.I've downloaded the Podcasts from bbc and britishcouncil in to my mobile and listened frequently. Also, read newspapers column to acquire more vocabulary.

In my experience, 2-3 weeks of planned preparation will get you a very good score.

I am not taking part on this discussion as what the OP is talking about is very obvious anyway. IELTS preparation improves your English by some means and of course, the score definitely reflects on your ability to communicate in English. However, the score alone is not an absoulte measurement.

I wanted to reply to this mesg to attract your attention to the OP's topic.

and the most Funny thing is IELTS is British and Australian testing.
its not even US or Canadian Accent. Lol.
very funny language testing choice by CIC. They better had chosen TOEFL along with CELPIP tho its not conducted in manny countries.

Well I submitted written letter for English efficiency, they didn't accept and asked for IELTS.

Now this choice is NO LONGER available.

Hi Guys,
I am seeking an expert opinion on my case,

My spouse has applied through the FSW as accountant, although she is commerce graduate but even after giving IELTS tests 4 times have not scored more than 7 (overall band) in all the tests. I was told that minimum 7.5 in speaking is a must. My lawyer is accting funny

Now What?
How can i proceed further?
Is it worth a try to send what ever Ielts results in hand to CIC?
how many more time can the ielts test be given?
