Dear All,

I am new to this forum and regularly visiting this site for updates.

Every week there are some topics going for IELTS and people are struggling to reach the points required (67 points) for immigration.

I want to convey an simple message for those who are just scoring 6 to 10 points in IELTS and asking for guidance for improvement. There are some guys who are able to come out of this by hard work and improvement.

The guys who are securing just 6 to 10 points and even has reach the points required need to ask themselves whether in real they will be able to survive in the market. Though there might be some influence or relatives support but still need to think of their own.

Even the Visa Officer, while making assessment, are sure that if the person is not able to communicate properly in english, they will not be survive easily even though they have the support of relatives or other factors.

Hope I am not hurting anybody, but this is the fact that guys need to really improve his english skill in order to survive in the market.

Best of luck to all of you.

Regards
Cool

True words, coolguy.
I absolutely agree with you. I do not understand why most applicants want only to reach the 67 points. There are clear examples even on these forums about that immigration officers do not hesitate to refuse an applicant if they think that their English knowledge will not be enough for them to survive in Canada even if they did pass the 67 points.

I agree with your assessment. I have scored 7.0 band in Academic module both times. But I have a hard time making myself understood when I'm talking to a Native American on the phone. I often repeat myself.

These proficiency tests are pretty good in giving you a rough assessment of your language skills but they should not be taken as a real verdict.

I still believe that the way test has been designed isn't strict enough to test your true skills. Let's suppose, talking about topics like study, family, work is very easy or topics like what special gift have you got...etc everybody can talk about it at ease. In real life things get really complicated and we have to talk about things on a different level. We need real fluency and understanding of the language.

All in all, a language immersion is required if one wants to improve his or her skills. That means studying the language for 3-4 years. After that passing these tests should not be a problem anymore.

We all are to BE enough mature to understand this fact. Canada has its own system and we will have hard time getting to understand the basic concept of life in CANADA. It´s not just a PRV, it´s more than that.

We have read bunch of stories about people complaining that Canada is NOT what they expected. THE QUESTION IS? ARE WE GOING TO CHANGE CANADA? NOPE. WE ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO CHANGE OUR MENTALITY AND TAKE THIS PROCESS SERIOUSLY IF WE EVER WANT TO SUCCEED.
