Hi

I am currently on a IEC visa due to expire on the 23rd of this month (really soon). I cant get a LMO with my current employer as they arent eligable (I knew that when I took the current job back in Nov), and since I am from New Zealand I cant get a second year of IEC. I have a potential offer of a job that has a "existing open LMO" just in the fast food industry (not skilled work).

As this is a new job and new LMO would I need to "extend" my work permit or get a completly new one?
If I apply before my visa runs out (in the next few days) can I get implied status for the new job, or must I wait for a reply before I can start work there.
If I must wait would it be okay to flagpole and and come back as a vistor (NZ is vistor visa exempt) and then wait for the work permit reply (I can prove funds, insurance, have a outgoing flight already booked incase I dont get it etc). (and then flagpole again to activate it?)

I know its coming down to the line, but want to see if I can make this work as opposed to just leaving when my IEC is up.

Thanks for your replies.

IECs cannot be extended. You need to apply for a new work permit once your new employer has obtained a new LMO.

There is no implied status for IECs. Once your IEC expires, you will have to stop working until you have your new work permit.

You can flagpole to obtain your new work permit provided you have the approved LMO (assuming you haven't mailed in your work permit applicaiton yet). You can't flagpole and come back as a visitor. To come back as a visitor you must physically leave Canada and enter the US for a period of time. Might be better to file an application from within Canada to change your status to visitor rather than actually leaving and trying to reenter.

So with a lmo but no new permit I would need to wait the 12+ weeks of processing somepeople have been reporting before taking the job offer? (If the employer has a open LMO I assume they dont need a new LMO)

Is some time possible as a day trip? or would it need to be a significant time like weeks/months?

As long as I apply to change from worker to visitor before the last day of my visa (within canada of course) I will still have implied as a visitor right?

Also thanks for your help and reply ^_^
