Hi

I was wondering if someone could enlighten me on the IEC visa and eTA thing. I have researched online and asked lawyers (who gave me conflicting advice) essentially I was landed in Canada in June 2016 on an IEC visa, was a eTA visa automatically attached to this at POE?

Thank you

eTAs are not visas. They are authorizations to travel to Canada. You will either be from a visa-exempt country in order to qualify for an eTA, or have a visa that exempts you from needing an eTA. A small list of countries require a visa and an eTA, but my read is that if you had an IEC visa you did not require an eTA.

Thank you for your responses.

I did some deep digging pulling up all the documents I could. For future reference for anyone with the same question on your IEC letter when it is approved it says an eTA is also in effect. It gives you the reference and end date!!!
