Hey guys,
I've been living and working in Ontario for over a year and a half now on an IEC permit from New Zealand. It's coming to an end in January and there is no way I want to go home so I am trying to stay here!
My efforts through Express Entry are proving to not be as successful as I would have hoped and now it's looking like I need to just get myself a work permit.
As far as work permits go, how challenging is it to get one when working for smaller companies? I work for a video production company as a camera operator and editor, but it's not a huge company; there are five of us.
I'm afraid that I won't be able to get something and I'll be stuck with having to go home, which will be devastating and my girlfriend would not be pleased.
I've been looking at how I can extend my IEC as my job is not going anywhere and because of our size, my role is quite important. I've also started looking into the International Mobility Program but I don't know much about it. What are the success rates for this kind of thing? Our company creates videos that have a huge impact on Canada from work with First Nations to people with exceptional needs, so dare I say it my job has a positive effect on this country. I'm just not sure if I can convince the government of that.
Thanks,
Joe
