IEC expires, can I stay without work permit?

Hello!
My issue is the following:
I (from Germany) came in November 2018 to Canada with an IEC work permit in order to be an Au Pair / Nanny here. Since I already booked my return flight for the beginning of June 2019 back then, they set an expiry date for the 30th of June 2019.
Now, I would like to extend my stay here for another month (beginning of July 2019) to stay with my host family for camping (NOT working!).

The only way I see until now would be to apply for an extension as visitor. But since they would charge me 100 CAD, I am wondering if I really need to apply for it just to stay literally for one more week after my work permit expires? Would I be allowed to stay for those couple of days without a valid work permit? I am also confused as I thought my work permit is valid for 12 months after entering the country at first, so in my case until Nov 2019?

I appreciate any advise! Thanks in advance!
