IEC changes 2015 for NZ already in Canada

Hi guys,
My girlfriend came to live with me in Canada on Jan 20th 2015. She applied in Nov last year and was granted a 12 month IEC work permit when she crossed the border. We have now discovered that the IEC program has been extended to 23 months for NZ (in effect Jan 1st 2015...?).

Is there any way she can update her 12 month permit to 23 months? NZ citizens can't apply a second time like aussies..
Seems pretty unfair that she should miss out on the extra 11 months if she can't.

We are desperately trying to figure out a way of keeping her here until we can satisfy PR requirements (i'm a canadian)..

She applied under the 2014 program, so she received the appropriate length visa. I don't believe there is anything she can do.

Lots of people get caught or 'miss out' when changes are made to immigration policies; for example, take a look at the Express Entry board.

Best to start reading up the requirements for either spousal sponsorship or Express Entry.
