Hi all

Its coming that time to get my second year visa on the IEC program. I just had a few question for people who have done this before.

Do i need to have new police certificates? I'm from England and have my police cert from my last application but obviously it is a year old? Should i send of for a new one in advance? or can i just use the old one?

Secondly because i have been in Canada for a year now, do i need to get a canadian police certificate?

Many Thanks all

You probably haven't had a response because you've posted about the IEC visa in a forum for Permanent Residency via the Canadian Experience Class route.

I cannot recall whether the validity period is different for IEC applications, but for CEC the police check is valid for one year.

Due to the very limited number of IEC visas offered to Brits, I would advise you to get a new UK police check early to be absolutely ready to submit your new IEC application as soon as the visas are released.

Unless things are changed for 2015, you will not need to submit a RCMP check at the time of your IEC application. They sometimes request them further down the line, but you do not need it at the time you make your application. Of all the people I know in Calgary who have applied for a second IEC visa (myself included), only one of them has been asked to obtain the RCMP check.

In summary, get a new UK police check in the near future and don't bother with the RCMP check.
