IDP IELTS tougher than British Council

Hi Folks,

I have this strange observation. In past I wrote British Council IELTS in 2013. As it has expired now, I am again writing it for EE application. This time I have booked IDP IELTS as dates for British Council IELTS were not available. To my surprise, I feel the practice material I received from IDP is much tougher as compared to British Council material.

So, is there a possibility that the actual IELTS I will take through IDP turn out to be tougher than British Council IELTS. Or for that matter, the evaluation also, will it be different as compared to British Council IELTS?

IELTS is an international test administered jointly by several bodies....Same test mate.

yes the IDP books are extremely hard, after giving first couple of tests you feel like giving up but don't ignore them, you'll thank them later. The actual tests are much much easier but if you do the IDP practice tests and score about 6.5-7 then you can be sure to do great on the actual test.

I believe both the test are similar in most aspects. The only difference lies in marking. I gave british council to my surprize my score were unexpectedly dropped, which i could never imagine. No to British council. Only IDP.

What is my CLB?
Also, my CRS is 417 based on my calculations. It could have been 475 if I scored a 7.0 in the writing module.
Now, the above is my first attempt. Should I just go ahead and write the exam again seeing that minimum CRS that will receive ITA may not come down to 400 any soon? Please I need your invaluable comments and advice.

I would advise that you practice writing and retake the exam. 417 is low

I recently gave ielts. It went good. However, I just wanna ask you, if you remember approximately how many mistakes you made in Listening test?

I think I made around 4. I am waiting for my result but just asking so that I don't raise my hopes too much.

I am so praying I get 8 in listening. Or else it would be 7.5.
