I just want to ask about the changing of marital status here in canada . I wasn't able to change it from my country of origin before coming here in Canada and now I want to change my status into married by renewing my passport first and change it into a married. My Question is... Is it ok for the immigration to change my status into married? would there be no problem in applying my new work permit? I'm looking forward for your advises. When did you actually get married? If you were already married before you applied for the work permit but still listed your status as single, that would be misrepresentation, however, for a work permit, maybe not a very serious one because being married would not have affected you in getting a work permit as long as it is not a Canadian you are married to. I do not know if it would cause a problem when you admit to this error, however, if you ever want to apply for your immigration and be able to bring your spouse, you must admit to it. Such a misrepresentation when it comes to applying for PR is very serious business.
