I cant seem to get a straight answer. I am elegeble in every way to sponsor my husband who is here with me in canada. However there is that question at the end of the Questionaire that askes if I have ever been charged with a crimal offense. And I have been. It will be settled on Feb 18th 2009. I won't be jailed for it just probation. Will this stop me from sponsoring my Husband. I'm so scared. Please help.

its very unlikely this will affect you. it has to be a violent crime or a crime against a family member or a crime that is sexual in nature. if the fraud was against immigration somehow that would obviously affect you. otherwise, you're ok......

But the processing of the application will be suspended until the OP's court case is complete, because if s/he goes to prison, then s/he is ineligible to sponsor.

Hello,

Some advice in regards to your probation.
Even If the answer is no they will find out about the charges and the probation.
So attach a letter in regards to the answer about the charge and inform CIC about the matter.
Write the number of the question on the page.
This is to prevent any hint of misrepresentation which may cause your application to be refused or delayed.
It is better to be honest up-front and remove any hint of misrepresentation.
I am in the same situation as you are and I am doing everything to avoid any delays.

Remember it is the government you are dealing with and it is almost like going to court and proving your case as a legitimate relationship.
If you do this then you will be just fine.
