I remain without status did that affect my pr application?

I get refused when applied for work permit because my representative mistake so I received deportation letter but i remain without status than I send reconsideration letter to CIC and after more than one year I recieved a work permit
Did that affect my Pr application???
And what's best solution for this situation

Be honest and explain the deportation letter when you apply. Give the specifics of that so that they understand.

Maybe a lawyer as well can help?
