I am an engineering student willing to transfer to Canada from Pakistan. I had done all my schooling in Middle east. I was accepted at SFU, BC for summer 2011 but my visa application got rejected due to lack of ties to my country. But now I received offer from Waterloo for September 2011.

I was just wondering does university matters for the Visa Officer would university as good as Waterloo help me any more for the application. And what can I do to show my ties I mean I am still a student I dont have any property or real estate.

Brief intro please. Where did you file your application and when? CHC isl? Which programme did you apply for? Funds shown ? Who was your sponsor? Any relatives in Canada ? Did you write statement of purpose? In Canada unlike USA, all universities provide similar quality of education. Univ of Waterloo is known for their computer programme. That's a positive point.

Re: student visa rejected,will apply again,,,good idea?

You got rejected because of lack of home ties, so you decide to apply to another uni? I dont see the logic in this. Why would you think a different uni will make your application any stronger? Your app failed because of weak home ties the vo does not believe you will leave canada at the end of you studies. My advice would be do not bother making another application so soon your already dead in the water as it is. Concentrate on improving your home ties over the next year or two and than reapply. There are 12 categories covering home ties that you can work on creating or improving so chop chop and get working on them!

Just to reaffirm mac's point of view. Students got their visas approved with low entry requirement colleges like Seneca, Sheridan from Pakistan. Go and review your case carefully. Changing universities won't make any difference.

Hi

Changing the university or College will not make the VO happy.

Focus on the ties part, if u applied from a middle eastern country then find out the requirements that u must meet in order to eradicate ties reason.

Did u apply from Pakistan or middle east ?

I filled it at Riyadh High Commission. I was doing engineering at NUST Pakistan. Yes my Maternal Uncle is a canadian citizen since last five years or so I mentioned him being there. Funds and everything was shown and they were satisfied with that I guess cause they had no objection on that. No i didnt write any statement of Purpose was I suppose too. As about the application it was filled in mid-Feb and I just heard from them two days ago. There is medical requirement or crimnal record checks of any sorts here so all they sent me was that letter which explains very little.

@Obeid_oo

Yes I applied from CHC Riyadh. I have lived in Saudi for last ten years had all my schooling here and as you might know expats cant buy property here atleast not legally so there is nothing to show. But again tons of people go for studies from here and none of them have any such property to show or anything.

@macthepak

No I had already applied to several universities I just heard from Waterloo later. If you dont mind can you tell me where could I find information on the 12 categories you mentioned.

The reason they mentioned was TRAVEL HISTORY AND IMMIGRATION STATUS. I fail to understand what immigration status are they talking about. And as about the travel history in middle east I have frequently visited Bahran, Qatar or UAE but that is a common practice here I dont know how does that leaves a negative impression on my app.

Where were you born originally? Yes, you should have written statement of purpose/study plan, elaborate your educational history and how your future studies from Canada benefits you in the long run back home. Which program did you apply at SFU ? did you mention anything about your studies at NUST in pakistan? Did you show any transcripts? Was uncle your sponsor?

Pakistan I was aroun 8 i think when I moved to Saudi. OH I DIDNT KNOW THAT. I thought trying to justify my intentions would make it seem to desperate or something so thats why I just provided them with factual content such as bank statements and SAUDI RESIDENT CARD n everything but I didnt write a study plan.

Mechatronics engineering both at SFU and Waterloo. Actually its the program cause of which I am going as it is quiet cutting edge hence Pakistan isnt the perfect choice for the field. Yes I did cause I had received exemption of three semesters so I think I had to. No my uncle wasnt sponsoring me. Would that help I can ask him to do so?

what would you suggest is there a chance if I apply the second time and what can I do to make it work. By the I would like you to know my family also had PR application under process under skilled worker class.

So many issues at hand. Only a lawyer or seasoned expert can give you correct advice . Your case is not straight forward . Second attempt may end up in refusal as well. Uncle is already there to accommodate you so there is a high chance that you might not come back to your country .

Your family workers class may be a hindrance but you can still provide them with some more defining study plan for Canada and its benefits on returning this can help, take ur time on that and prepare it well.
By the way do not hide any thing just make it specific.

Since your uncle is a Canadian citizen he can get access to actual refusal notes from CIC. He will pay some small fees for that. You can ask for the whole process from experts here. They will guide you.

Hi Ali

I have been living in Saudi since I was born 8), it's been 18 years for me,

last year I applied at Riyadh , I'm living in Ad dammam currently, they refused my case for funds and ties,

I can deal with the funds but the ties part wasn't clear enough to me, so I decided to apply with more funds and apply in India .

You can re-apply in your country, but it will take time

1. Immigration history means that you have spent prolonged periods outside your country more than 6 years , also did u apply for an exit and re- entry visa for Saudi before u applied at CHC riyadh

2. who is sponsoring you financially?

3. did u mention in your app that your uncle is PR of CANADA,

4. you can also order CAIPS notes , your uncle can help in obtaining it from Canada.

Re: student visa rejected,will apply again,,,good idea?

You need to take the matter seriously than "i have nothing else to do so will give it another shot from islamabad!" having a rejection on your travel history is a serious matter. When i assess applications for people who come to me if their chances are not 90% plus i tell them do not bother applying you will be rejected and worse still your travel history will be hurt. In your case before you applied i would have said do not bother the chances off success for a pak citizen applying to chc in saudi is very slim at best.
