Hello guys am new on here and I would like some info. I am from Nigeria on a Visitors Visa, I was told that i would be given (either hand written or stamped) an additional 6 months on entry, unfortunately my passport doesn't have that anywhere on it! what does this mean? what are my options if I still want to stay and my visa is expired? am really confused as I came to write an exam and am in the process of getting an employer to file for a work visa for me :( :( :( :'(

If when you arrived in Canada, your passport was stamped and no other date on that stamp except for your arrival date, then you have been given a 6 month allowed visit. Check the page opposite your visa.

If you flew in, they have to stamp your passport. However if you landed in the US and drove in, they don't.

They don't have the stamps there, they just scan it through the computer and it's logged in there. My husband drove into Canada in May and they didn't stamp it. When we asked at the local office here, she said they do not stamp when you drive it, it would "be a waste of time" for them when they just have a computer to scan and log it.

Yup. Americans sometimes are just waved in so when they need to extend within Canada, they can't show proof of when they entered.

Well my husbands passport was scanned so that's the proof for them. They just go into the files and they can see his passport. Virtual stamp so to speak.
