Hi all :) ;
i am newbe here ; i am a pharmacist from Algeria and i would like to immigrate to Canada ;
My question is how points i will get in the Education criteria : 20, 22, or 25 ? (in Algeria the programm of pharmacy lasts 5 years ) and i have studied untill now 17 years of full time

i'm also looking for an english speaking partner , and i can help with french in exchange

thank you

A pharmacist in this forum from thread Pharmacist thread got 22 points of Pharm-D. So I hope you will get the same.

My guess would be since the program is in its bachelors level, you have one major degree of 5 year. And since you complete 17 years, I would assume the balance 12 years was at your school or college.

So, I think its 20 points. And the quota for pharma. is getting full.

Hi friends
Just now I got PER
Application received 12 July 2011
BD Enchased 26 Aug.
PER 5 Oct
*E*
Anybody can tell me I counted my Education point 22 for 4 year Bpharm and 1 year Pharm D.
If they will give me 20 point then my point will be 66 but now I got PER its mean they give me 22 point for my education
Best Regards
Saqib

I have quoted from this thread.

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/pharmacist-3131-t58292.1800.html

Subsection 78(3) of the IRPR provides that points are to be awarded on the basis of the single
educational credential that results in the highest number of points. For example, an applicant with a
master’s degree that was completed after 16 years of education, and who spends an additional year
in school after obtaining it would be awarded 22 points. That the applicant spent an additional year in
school does not turn a 16 year master’s degree into a 17 year master’s degree and would not result in
being awarded 25 points

Only if your 5 year program in pharm. is equal to a masters degree, then you will get 22 or even 25 points.

Your application maybe returned to you if you do not qualify because of the pass mark. Make sure you get a correct evaluation before submission of your packet.

Yes rightly said, the law clearly is stated in the guide. 20 points for the first bachelors degree regardless of its duration, even if it were 8 year bachelor degree.

Now i can't really understand: 22 or 25 or 20 :-X ?
the education system in Algeria is a francophonic one ; it means that you study 6 years in the primary school , 3 years in the middle school and 3 years in the secondary ; at the scondary school you pass the BAC exam , you can join University only if you succeed at this exam....

i don't have a Bachelor degree like in Anglo-saxon countries , i have a Diploma of pharmacist(BAC+5) ; i think
it's the equivalent of a master degree
