I am not sure where is curve ball belongs to, so here it is.
So, I landed 2 days ago at the rainbow bridge. Only found out then that my case officer has assigned my whole name as my Last Name. Now they would not change it; the reason being it is exactly the way it was written in my passport.
Basically my country, Myanmar, has no such thing on our passports. So my full name was written under "Name" and the case officer saw it fit to assign the whole thing as my Last name and left the First Name as blank. He/she did not take into account of the way the forms were filled out with first and last names.
I have a few concerns. I am not sure if anyone else have ever encountered the same problem.
1) How does it affect my CRA? (I went to service Canada to get my SIN card done and they tell me it should not affect. I just have to leave the first name blank as I file for taxes)
2) So I have to go change my driver license too? If so, banks, etc etc(I have been in Canada 12 years so pretty much everything is last name, first name)
Now to prevent all that, I could go for a legal name change to get back my own name -_-". Any opinions? advices?
