It is hard regardless of citizenship if the father of your children is not willing to let them go cross the border even for a weekend. I do not know how to make this process easier but I can tell you that you need to straighten out the custody agreement first before anything. Even you want to sponsor the children it is going to be extra difficult without the father's consent unless you can prove that you have 100% custody of them.

I have children from the previous marriage who are living in the States with their dad (we are all Americans). I had to ask for his permission to get their medical since I was required to have them done even they are not immigrating with me. I had to convince him that if something were to happen to him I would be taking them and they had to be eligible to apply for the status..therefore I needed their medical exams. He was okay with that...but your case is much different since you are intending to bring them with you.

So..my advice to you is to work out the custodial agreement with him first before applying for them...sorry it is not very helpful or easy. I am sure your ex is worried that once you take the children across the border he won't have any access to them.

Where were your children born? I am wondering.
