I have applied to extend my work permit. Can I travel outside Canada?

Need your help

I have applied for WP extension for same employer for same job category in October End , My previous WP Already expired on 31st Oct and as per Processing time I am expecting to get my Extended WP sometime in January end.

But I have to go to my home Country on January 5th so my question is Can I travel outside Canada while my application for Extension is still in progress.

I check CIC website and get this answer

I have applied to extend my work permit. Can I travel outside Canada?

You can leave Canada and come back. However, one of three things will happen when you return to Canada.

1 )You may be allowed to come back to Canada as a visitor, if Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has not yet decided to extend your work permit. If this is the case, you cannot work until you get your work permit extension. The officer at the port of entry may ask you to prove you have enough money to support yourself in Canada.

2) You may be allowed to come back to Canada as a worker, if the officer at the port of entry finds out that CIC extended your work permit while you were away.
3) You may be asked to apply for a new work permit at the port of entry.

Note : You must also meet all other applicable entry requirements.

Request you help on this

1) Is it possible if I get visitor visa from India and travel in February and as per point 2 I got WP at the Airport?

1. Other applicable: admissibility requirements, like medical, security, etc.

2. You probably will not be able to get a WP at POE as you are from a visa required country, unless your application for WP is approved and decision made positive. Even for that, anything may happen at POE, thats my opinion. Its your choice if you want to take the risk at POE, then prepare a complete copy of the WP application/supporting docs you submitted in case CBSA asked for that.

Best practice is to have a valid visa to bring you back to Canada before travelling back to your home country.
Call CIC if you have any doubt.

dont leave, my friend is stuck in egypt cuz of that, even tho his work pemrit was approved. but they r giving him hard time giving him reentry visa
