for example. if he/she is leaving the country on sep 11 at 11:15 pm, and the day, sep 11 should be counted as ABSENCE cuz u r not staying in canada for the full 24 hour of sep 11.21685 said:It should be counted.

i agree. in his case even if he leaves canada at 23:59:59, that day still won't count.u4g5 said:hes leaving on the dot, and assuming hes not returning b4 midnight. that day wont count
The only time the day is counted is if you leave and re-enter Canada on the same day before midnight. If you left at 1am and you came back 11:59pm, the day is counted. As long as you left and re-entered on the same day, it's fine no matter the gap in time. The moment the clock ticked after midnight, it is considered absence.jrjayl said:my personal understanding.
one does not need to stay a full 24 hours for a day to be counted. if at the second 23:59:59 sept 11, you are physically inside canada, sept 11 should be counted, otherwise an ABSENCE.
e.g.
1 -- leaving Canada sept 11 at 8AM, coming back same day 11PM, sept 11 is counted.
2 -- leaving Canada sept 11 at 8AM, coming back sept 12 at 11PM, sept 11 is not counted, but sept 12 is counted
3 -- entering Canada sept 11 at 8AM, leaving on same day at 11PM, not counted.
The residence calculator should provide the most accurate results.
